Mr. Matthew Cautivar has served as the Director of Orchestras at Hebron High School in Lewisville ISD since 2016. Under his direction the Hebron Orchestra has earned numerous awards and distinctions, as well as achieved numerous program firsts. Mr. Cautivar received a Bachelor of Music degree with honors from the University of North Texas. He is an advocate of LISD’s Strategic Design initiative as well as the 1:X initiative, having served previously on the Technology Cadre and Campus Design Team. He has presented professional learning for LISD as well as other learning communities on a variety of topics, such as technology in the classroom, grading for learning, relationship building, and new teacher training. His professional affiliations include the Texas Music Educators Association and the Texas Orchestra Directors Association. He has served on the TMEA Election Committee, the UIL Music Advisory Committee, the TODA Composition Contest Committee, and the LISD Device Evaluation Committee.

Hebron High School opened its doors in 1999. Starting with just five members in orchestra, the program has grown to over 200 members today. Since 2005 the orchestra has earned 53 UIL Sweepstakes and has been named TMEA String Honor Orchestra finalists twice. Alumni have gone on to study music and perform at Texas A&M, SMU, UNT, University of Denver, UCF, the Colburn School, the New England Conservatory, USC, and more.
